1. What Works Offline
Completing a checklist in progress: If you've already opened a checklist and started answering steps, you can continue working through it offline. Your responses are saved locally on the device as you go.
Navigating already-loaded screens: Screens and data that have already loaded stay accessible while offline. Your home screen, open tasks, and in-progress checklists are available.
2. What Requires a Connection
Submitting a checklist: The final submission requires a connection to reach Xenia's servers. If you tap Submit while offline, the submission queues locally and syncs automatically when your connection is restored.
Loading new content: New tasks, new announcements, updated project data, and fresh notifications require a connection to load.
Opening unvisited screens: If you haven't visited a screen recently, it may not have loaded data — you'll see an empty or loading state until connection is restored.
3. How Offline Submission Works
If you submit while offline:
- The submission is queued on your device (visible in Diagnostic Tools → Local submissions: X on device, pending submit)
- When connection is restored, the submission syncs automatically — no action needed from you
- You'll see the submission confirmed in your history once it syncs
- The submission timestamp reflects when you tapped Submit — not when it synced
4. Best Practice in Low-Connectivity Areas
- Open your tasks before entering a low-signal area — they'll load while you have connection
- Complete the checklist as normal
- Find a stronger signal before tapping Submit to avoid the sync queue
- If you regularly work in areas with no signal, use Wi-Fi when available to sync any queued submissions
