Navigating the App: Bottom Tabs Explained (Work, Templates, Chat, etc.)

1. The Bottom Navigation Bar

The bottom navigation bar is always visible in the Xenia mobile app regardless of which screen you're on. It's your primary way to move between the main sections of the app. The tabs you see depend on your role — not every user sees every tab. 

2. The Tabs

Home Your home screen — either Location Pulse (frontline) or your configured dashboard (managers). Tap this to return to your starting view from anywhere in the app.

Work Your task and work order board. This is where all your assigned tasks live — organized by status (Open, In Progress, Overdue, Completed). Sub-tabs inside Work include:

• Tasks — all task assignments (project-generated and one-off)
• Work Orders — facilities and maintenance work orders (if your role has access)

Use the Work tab when you want to see your full task list rather than just today's view, or when you need to filter tasks by status.

Templates A list of all templates (checklists and forms) you have access to submit. Two sub-tabs:

• My Templates — templates organized in folders, available to start a new submission
• All Submissions — a history of all completed submissions you can view (based on your submission access tier)

Use the Templates tab to submit an ad hoc form that wasn't assigned as a task — an incident report, a vendor issue form, or any on-demand checklist.

Comms (Communications) Messages and announcements. Sub-tabs include:

• Chats — direct and group messages with your team
• Announcements — broadcast messages from your organization that may require acknowledgment

Use Comms to message a teammate, check for new announcements, or confirm an announcement your manager sent.

More / Menu On some configurations, a fifth tab appears for additional features — Documents, Reports, or other modules depending on your role and workspace setup.

Tab Visibility by Role

Not all tabs are visible to all users. Your admin controls which tabs appear for each role. A frontline employee might see Home, Work, Templates, and Comms. A district manager might see an additional Reports or Facilities tab. If you don't see a tab you expect, your role may not have access to that feature.
