This article explains how to create or update location hierarchies in bulk using either a sample CSV file or the user interface (UI). Location hierarchies help organise locations under parent and child structures for better visibility and management.
What Is a Location Hierarchy?
A location hierarchy allows you to:
- Group locations under parent locations (for example: Region → Area→ Store)
- Apply structure and consistency across locations
- Improve reporting and checklist or project assignments
Option 1: Bulk Location Hierarchy via Sample CSV
Step 1: Download the Sample CSV
- Go to Locations in your workspace.
- Navigate to Configurations and Click on Locations Hierarchies and Levels
- Click Create Bulk Hierarchies.
- Download the Sample CSV file.
Step 2: Fill Out the CSV File
Open the sample CSV and enter your hierarchy details.
Common columns include:
- Level Name
- Hierarchy Name
- Level Order
- Is site Level
- Hierarchy Description
- Hierarchy Colour
Step 3: Upload the CSV
- Return to the Location Hierarchy section.
- Upload the completed CSV file.
- Submit the file for validation.
Step 4: Review and Confirm
- Resolve any validation errors shown on screen.
- Once successful, confirm the upload to apply the hierarchy.

Option 2: Location Hierarchy via UI
Step 1: Navigate to Location Hierarchy
- Go to Locations.
- Select Configurations
- Click Location Hierarchies and Levels
- Click Create New Hierarchies
Step 2: Creating Hierarchy
- Hierarchy Name
- Description
- Hierarchy Color
- Hierarchy Levels
- Click Save after making the changes above
Repeat this process for each Hierarchy as needed.
Verify the Hierarchy
After setting up the hierarchy:
- Review the location tree or hierarchy view
- Make adjustments if necessary
